BRISMES 2021 Conference

In collaboration with the University of Kent’s School of Politics and International Relations, the British Society for Middle Eastern Studies will hold its 2021 Annual Conference on the theme of ‘Knowledge, Power and Middle Eastern Studies’ hosted online, 5th - 9th July.

The BRISMES Conference is the largest annual academic meeting of Middle East experts in the UK. We are delighted to welcome three outstanding keynote speakers: Professor Pinar Bilgin (Bilkent University), Dr amina wadud (National Islamic University of Jogjakarta, Indonesia), and Professor Caroline Rooney (University of Kent). The event will also include over eighty panel sessions on a vast range of topics and a publishers' exhibition.

The BRISMES Conference is open to anyone interested in attending. Registration is required for all events and activities.

Programme participants must register by midnight 5 April (UK Summer Time); after that date, non-registered participants will be dropped from the programme. The deadline for all other delegates, including publishers, is midnight 20 June (UK Summer Time).

Refund Policy

Cancellations made before 20 June 2021 (midnight, UK Summer Time) will be refunded minus a £35 administration fee. Cancellations made after 20 June 2021 (midnight, UK Summer Time) will not receive a refund.
